In Britain the national obsession is football, and plenty of people support one of the premier league teams (to the death) without living anywhere near the team's home town. I mean, I'm sure even you know a Manchester United fan or two regardless of where you happen to live in the world. This also demonstrates the fact that teams actually have massive fanbases in countries that don't even really play their game, which I would say contradicts your point.

I'd also point out that like sports fans, fanboys are often raised in fan-families, much like sports fans. I know that my brother has certainly been influenced by my Nintendo-love. Now he's his own man, and loves it for all sorts of his own reasons. We've also loved Nintendo when they've been down (and we recognised and lamented the fact), and didn't stop loving them, just as you don't stop loving a team when the best players leave and are relegated to a lower division.

Now some would say, "why would you even love the team? It doesn't even really stand for anything - there's nothing about say Chelsea, that makes it particularly Chelsea-like"

This is where I believe Fanboys have a one-up over the reasoning of many sports fans - as the three 'teams' really do stand for something (each one of them vastly different), there's more variability in the things they do, and the people who shaped the companies have been driving them with specific visions practically from their founding (sort of). If Aston-Villa or whathaveyou has no money no discernable homegrown talent, and is just a corporate entity, there's a good chance they'll never recover as a team. But with Nintendo, I know that the company itself is capable of strokes of genius that will never leave and almost never be lost. Well, whatever, it sounds better in my head.

As for respect of others, like I said, only blind fanboys fail to even acknowledge the competition, and frankly, there are plenty of Sports nuts who fail to see reason.

and BTW, yes, my Brother and I have been celebrating. We see the current situation as a kind of Karmic Retribution, and that all 3rd parties willing to stab N64 in the back but not PS3 all get what they deserve.

Anyway - This is Bugmenot signing off - permanently. At ioi's request Bugmenot (mostly me) is dissappearing as a user and I'm transporting my 'persona' to my new account - Killy_blame

Goodbye and, Hello

Formerly Bugmenot, (mostly) I'm now reformed and adopting a more concrete persona upon ioi's request.

I'm not new here and had 147 posts to my (our) name - not that anyone noticed.
