Before the iPhone, touchscreen phones were a rare sight.

Before the 3DS, 3D without glasses on handhelds are a rare sight as you can see right now. The fad will be even more notorious once a serious company like Nokia, Apple or Samsung start doing handheld devices that use such 3D glassesless technology.

 

 

 

umm no they were not a rare site, as a matter of fact long before the Iphone there  were many touch screen based phone's i do not know where you got that idea , that they were rare but that is not even remotely the case at all because the Smart phone almost all came with Tochscreen's well before the Iphone were talking year's before not month's but year's.

an that was Mainly due to PDA's being absorbed into the smarthone market.

so no they were not rare.

A PDA, was just right that: PDA. People would look at it as a small computer, not an easy cell phone they could use like the iPhone back in the time. Later when they were merged with cell phones it made a little slapsh, but the true touchscreen fever came with the iPhone.

im sorry but you seem to imply that Nintendo is the one making 3D popular all by their lonesome, an you call riiight as insulting. also for your comment about touchscreen's before the Iphone that were popular what about palm treo's quite popular and had touchscreen's

and HTC winmo 5.0 an 6 based phones sold million's of phones all touch screen.

you keep saying that with touch screen's that up to the iphone there ware no mainstream popular touchscreen phone's..and that is just bunk and you know it. so please stop.

There was nothing comparable to the iPhone's success on the touchscreen market before it's arrival, and I'm talking about the world, and the world isn't just the USA as some people think. We're not getting anywhere with our discussion and we've created enough off topic already. so please stop.

And for the Hitachi Wooo numbers. It sold 300,000 in a "few weeks". 3DS will do that in the first 24 hours... Only in the USA. That's a mainstream achievement.

yes and so what if they do..it's quite impressive, for a single device but hardly impressive vs every other 3D screen enabled smartphone that will also be in the market.

the 3DS is not an island all unto it's self. just like the Iphone was not also. as for popularity there was quite a number of TREO'S SOLD ESP THE 650 MODEL LONG BEFORE THE Iphone made it to the market.

already Take Android already there are more Devices with the Android OS than there is total number of iphone's and Ipads combined in the world . I am not saying that the 3DS number of sales would not be impressive i am pretty sure they will be. I am just not going to agree with the Idea that you have about Nintendo is the only one that is going to make 3D mainstream, yes they will help. but they will be far from alone.
