and how do you do that run TV ad's day an night talking about how much you motion control's differ from the Wii? it's Simple you cannot do it anyway by that mean's because perception is based on people's idea what they think it is not what it is..for instance i asked you a Question : if someone stated to you that the playstation Move is a clone of the Wii mote or Wii motion plus would you correct them or let it slide? you did not answer that Question. which mean's you agree with that it's a clone or you do not care to correct wrong information spread about a system. like this developer stated that the Wii is a referbished Game cube and if someone said that would you correct that or would you let is slide? you see it is all about perception. something your not going to change unless people learn they won't change their perception. that's why in this case Sony is letting the games speak for themselves..I have seen quite a number of people state that the Move is not offering anything more than the Wii or Wii motion plus. that's their opinion and i can respect that , that does not mean their right. |
Alright, first to answer your question, I would of course tell them they're similar, because they are, but I would also point out the differences.
Same goes for the Wii = GameCube argument, I'd tell them that from a graphical perspective, they're similar, but then again, everyone already knows this.
Now, the fundamental point myself and some others here are getting at: Sony is purposely letting the Move obtain the image of a 'Wii-too'. If that's their intent, then fine, but people shouldn't be surprised that others see Move as a Wii copycat.
They and they alone are responsible, in the first place, for the fact that the majority of people see Move a a Wii clone (regardless of whether it is or isn't). Yes they can change that, and they could have, from the beginning, but they have continually made the Move look like a product very similar to Wii.
They made the Move and subcontroller look like a Wiimote and Nunchuk (yes there are differences, but everyone and their grandmother can see they're modeled after Wii's controllers).
The games they seem to be giving the most attention are practically clones of highly popular Wii games like sports, party and fitness, which do nothing to show off the uniqueness or strong points of the controller, versus what can already be done on Wii.
What makes Move unique? Why should people invest in it over a Wii or Kinect? What unique, appealing games does it offer, that competitors don't? THOSE are the questions Sony should be addressing, if they wish to make Move stand out from Wii (and Kinect), and they could. They themselves have created this ruling perception that Move = Wii. Of course there are exceptions, but the overall image they have created is that they're copying Wii. Regardless of whether that's true or not.
I'm just not getting why some people are surprised or angry that others think this, too.
