I dont see why there is a problem with having long levels, I am perfectly happy just to pause my game and put the PSP into sleep. My problem is that most of the games are avaliable on PS2 as well, and quite a lot of the time they are better, take for instance Battlefront II and LSW 2, both of which I got for both systems. On PS2, they are better games, and the graphics are marginally better and they have better campaign modes, so most people are going to get them for their PS2. On the other hand, Syphon Filter and Killzone Liberation are games that have been built around the portable system, so are perfect for them, and are not the same as any experience that you would get on a home console
