final fantasy 12 is my secound favorite after 7. The main reason I loved it was because of the extra monster hunting missions. I would rather have a million boss battles any day versus grinding my way through endless easy enemies so it was great. I liked how the battle system could be set up so that your allies could do programed fighting techniques when fighting easy, boring enemies and that you could slow the battle down and command every move when fighting bosses. I also like how the game didn't seem linear and there were several routes to follow to arrive at the same goal. I think it had weak characters and the story wasn't the best, but the gameplay waqs enough to make it one of my favorites.'

FFXIII didn't allow me to take over all the allies if I wished to and that was something you could do in every other ff game I played. I have writter on here many a times why I can't stand this game, but there were many. Future final fantasies should be linear thats all that matters. I migh have gotten over the other shitty parts of the game if that wasn't the case. Also I like to talk to characters in the game the story should not have been done only through videos.

Yeah FF12 was great, flawed but great imo. and yeah thats what i meant to get at with this thread, far too much time was spent fleshing out the characters through cutscenes, it never provided any interactive based character development.

Exactly part of the great fun of the old games was going to new places and actually feeling like you were a part of the story. You had to find certain characters to continue and when you talked to them interaction was continued even if it was only pressing a simple button. I will never deny that the videos hve made ff enjoyable since VII, but with XIII you get grinding, boss battle than a movie. I'm not here to just watch a movie I wan't to interact with the game beyound just fighting.

I think a lot of fans are upset right now because of the reasons you've stated. i just dont know what was going through their heads at the time. i mean did Kitase & Toriyama, really think that 6 hours of melodrama, Leonia Lewis, and a Call of Duty inspired FF would elevate the franchise to a new level. i personally dont mind a bit of linear gameplay, its very good in telling a story, but when that story is filled with over theatrical melodrama, its just a failure. i mentioned this before but its the gameplay that makes the cutscenes, not the cutscenes that make the gameplay. espeically if those cutscenes are too repititive and over theatrical!
