Why don't publishers work together and create their own game stores?

If they get rid of Gamestop they lose one of their largest distribution methods for games. Though you do make a good point, they could stop shipping to Gamestop and then focus on other stores that don't sell used games (JB-Hi-Fi, Target, BestBuy etc) or they could open their own store =D
