I went to the Kinnect Experiance Tour at the Mall Of America and thought I would give you my take on it.
They were demoing 4 games "Your Shape, Fitness Evolved", "Breakout", "Kinect Adventures" and by far the most popular "Dance central". From what I saw, Kinnect is still laggy at one point during the breakout game it was literally about a second. It's also still a bit buggy, I saw a girls fore-arm bend like rubber. Despite this, people still seemed to enjoy the experiance.
It would be moist dissapointing if Microsoft does not fix the lag and bugs within the next 2 and a half months, infact, I would expect them too if they havn't already, since this does seem like the same demo they showed at E-3 (Isaw no improvement in the breakout game) The buggy lag coupled with thedowngrade from four to two players per unit, and the announced $149.00 price point, does not instil hope in me for Kinects success. However, while MS iself has Kinnect for the preorder price of $149.99 it has stated that this may not be the final price. Once again, even with the reductionb off players per unit, I firmly belive that a pricepoint of $89.99 would have units flying off shelves.
Now, as far as demographicsgoes, I observed kids, younger teenage girls, families (moms and dads trying the games with thier kids) and younger couples where the girlfriend had doubtlessly talked the boyfriend into trying Kinnect. But above all, I think the one demographic this will be extremely popular with is sharks, yes that's right, sharks. Need proof? Just watch this video!
