| Johann said: Well, here it is again. The piracy issue. This threads never go anywhere. Just this time though, I'll speak my mind. I'm for piracy. Yeah that's right... I think it does more good than bad in the end of the day. I don't think I could explain why fully to most of you, as my reasons are related to the fact that I live in a 3rd world country in which the prices of games are obscenely high, and also on the fact that historically, every highest software selling console of its generation was also the most pirated one. In other words, I strongly believe that the vast majority of pirates are not in fact potential buyers who don't do it because they're cheap. I know I don't help the situation by doing what I do, but in no way it could be argued that I make it worst, as I am in no way whatsoever a potential buyer of new games. |
Theft does more good than bad?
If the games are too high a price for you to afford, then don't buy the system in the first place. Using high prices of games as a justification of theft is a nonsense excuse. Should people in the UK be able to drive into a petrol station, fill up their tanks, and drive off without paying because of the high price(/tax)? Should people be able to walk into Harrods and walk out with stuff without paying because it costs more than they can afford?
That attitude really annoyos me, and seems to be more and more prevalent in society. "I can't afford it, but I want it, so I'll just steal it".
