Personally i think the hype caused by the mass delays will go against it. GT5 looks good, but does it play good?
I remember at E3 2009. The media and everyone was going mental for Scribblenauts. They gave it game of E3 if i remember right? Everyone was saying how it will revolutionise games as you can do pretty much anything! Gamespot and various others were claiming it to be one of the greatest games of all time! But when it released it didn't quite end up like that did it. Reviews were pretty average, sales were pretty poor, and those media people distanced themselves from their claims. What happened? Well the problem was they bought into the hype, they were told your going to be able to do xyz in the game, which didn't happen. They listened to the people talk about the game. But when it was time for the game to stand on its own it wasen't so great.
I think GT5 is destined to be one of those games that goes the same way. We are being told once again by the media it is great, it won an award at gamescom recently, were being told that xyz features will be in there and this makes us think wow this is going to be great! But like before once you get the game it doesn't quite live up to the hype, few games do. The games that now get amazing reviews are games that you didn't really expect too much from i.e Uncharted 2,Mass Effect 2,Dragon Age etc..games that were a total surprise.
From the actual gameplay of GT5 i don't see anything that makes me too impressed and i am a racing nut. It has the typical GT feel about it which is great. But since V-Spec the series has been a bit shit. We were promised all these great things for GT4 and it didn't happen. The last GT game to get a 90% score was GT3. I think GT5 will get scores of around 90%. I would loved to be proven wrong. But of the racing games i have seen this year F1 2010 and the new Need for Speed Persuit game looked more entertaining to me.
