I just once would like to see how well a multiplatform hard-edged game would do on the Wii compared to other platforms if all were released at the same time with equivalent feature sets. Most of the "test" games that third-parties have released have been overly simple or rail shooters.

Call of Duty 3 fits that bill I think.

And it sold on par with the PS3 version (not counting the boost it got after World At War came out on the Wii). So until such an identical situation comes along (perhaps Black Ops), that is the one proper case, and it proves the opposite of the assumption.

I wouldn't count on Black Ops - it's not getting much push from Activision (I can't say about offline but online the Wii edition was not mentioned in lots of online sites that were selling the game until fairly recently, nor does the Wii have any "prestige" or "hardened" editions). Also, imo at the time of COD3 the so called "hardcore" still bought games on the Wii, but later lots of them, due to the Wii's (mis)treatment by 3rd parties, abandoned (in spirit if not physically) the Wii and especially 3rd party "hardcore" games on the Wii, and so a lot of them are now pirating these games. Imo of course.
