I really don't don't know. The last time I modded a console for gaming was the original Xbox and I've put homebrew on the wii for the extras. Microsoft tried to force firmware updates on games and such and all you had to do was load the game onto the console and the run a patching program to make it work. And if they have already cracked one code they know how now and it probably won't take long to crack the new one. I dunno, it just seems that from past experience, once a console is cracked, it's game over on stopping the mod scene. |
@Bold: Agreed. But that's actually the catch, imo. They haven't hacked anything, they just got the stuff to turn a commercial PS3 into a debug mode, used by devs. If that's the case, then Sony won't have trouble stopping this, newer consoles would already have the newest firmware. Anyway, I guess we will have to wait and see.
Also, they can patch newer games to remove mandatory system updates, but still wouldn't have online features whic is, imo, one of the best things this gen. Of course that's just my taste, pretty sure I would find easily someone tha does not care about it lol.
