Microsoft instead of spending money to make PS3 owner not play some Third party games for a year (ME2, GTA4 DLC), should create some new IPs for 360 owners.

Alan Wake, Crackdown, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon etc are new ips that were created this gen that will never appear on a non microsoft home console.

Jeez how many new ips do you people expect from Microsoft each gen?

Also this is the first gen Sony has actually had 1st party games people cared about.  During the ps1 and ps2 era the games that got most of the critical acclaim and sales belonged to third parties. So going by that logic most people shouldn't be talking until they see what Microsoft does next gen.

Wrong. People cared about Gran Turismo, God of War, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, Jak & Daxter and so on and so fourth long before the PS3 was even out.

Gran Turismo was created in the ps1 era

God of War was ps2

Ico/Shadow of the Colossus came out during the ps2 era it got critical acclaim but its a niche title that most didn't play

Jak and Daxter gets sales and it's a solid 8 title but it's overshadowed by other platformers like mario

The issue I am referring to in this post is everyone acts like Sony has always had so many great first party ips from the start which isn't the case as you have just listed.  They slowly built it up over time.

Also your list points out another problem with Sony sure they create a lot of new ips but they abandon a lot of them and move on to something else when fans would really like to see sequels.  How long have people been asking and begging for legend of dragoon again?

You're all over the place. Your post is clearly contradictory too, since you claimed nobody cared about Sony's 1st party offerings in either the PS1/PS2 eras, and then proceeded to further prove my point.

Second, yes Sony's offerings change and get better, but they still offer plenty of sequels (Gran Turismo 5 is on the way, God of War III is out, The Last Guardian (though not a sequel) will soon be the latest offering from Team Ico, and Naughty Dog always does a different IP each gen). Not to mention Ratchet & Clank, Twisted Metal, & Killzone's 2 & 3.

And so what if people have been asking for a new Legend of Dragoon? One franchise, big deal. How long have people wanted a new Killer Instinct from Rare?

The post you quoted initially raises a good point, if Microsoft really wants to have a leg up on the competition, it should invest in more 1st party studios. Sony and Nintendo have learned a valuable lesson about 3rd Party titles, particularly this gen. Microsoft is going to have to learn it as well.

Well fine I shouldn't have made it sound so black and white that nobody cared about Sony's titles but you HAVE to admit that by far the exclusive 3rd party games such as the Final Fantasies, Metal Gear Solids, Tekken, Grand theft Autos, Devil May Crys etc of yesteryear is what made the MOST IMPACT.

You don't have to admit it because with all those titles you listed most have a multiplatform title that people on the ps3 are going to choose over it and it wont be close

-Killzone 2 and 3 (Most gamers ignore it for the Call of Duty titles on ps3 by a wide margin look at vgchartz numbers)

-Twisted Metal (There aren't many vehicular combat game nowadays  so it wins by default)

-God of War 3 and Uncharted Series (Sony had a chance to get Assassins Creed and Grand Theft Auto 4 as exclusives but they let it slip away and as a result both handily outsold GOW 3 and Uncharted series )

-Ratchet and Clank (There aren't many plaformers being made so it wins by default)

-Gran Turismo 5 (The most important and best selling sony franchise so this will always be around)

-The Last Guardian( Not many people outside of Japan is going to play this so it's going to be ignored by the masses)

Now let's do Microsoft

Halo 3 ( the best selling fps on the console until it was just recently inched out by MW 2 Halo Reach may pass it though)

Fable 2 (The highest selling wrpg on the system)

Forza 2,3 (The best selling sim racers on the system)

Lost Odyssey ( was the bestselling jrpg this gen until the juggernaut final fantasy 13 came)

Alan Wake and Crackdown (gets killed by Assassins Creed and GTA)

Gears of War ( the best selling 3rd person shooter this gen)

So you see Sony may have first party titles that get  a lot of critical acclaim but gamers still need to show support and acknowledge the titles by buying them. That isn't happening they like the multi plat more.  What good is it to claim that the 1st party titles on the ps3 are better than the 360s if the gamers on the system like the multi plat titles more?

You say the sony first party titles are better than it has ever been and it's true they are but their third party support when it comes to exclusives is the worst it's ever been.  Microsoft and Sony aren't Nintendo so to achieve the success that they want they need 3rd party exclusives just as much and probably more than first party exclusives.

Edit) Once again just to clarify I didn't mean to imply that no one cared about sonys first party titles.  But at least to me Sonys titles just served as good filler until the 3rd party exclusive main course titles appeared during the ps1 and ps2 days.

How is Alan Wake getting killed by Assassins Creed and GTA?

Yeah not a fair comparision since those games released months and years apart from alan wake.  Would red dead redemption be a better comparison since it came out in the same month and belongs to the same action adventure genre?  Alan Wake is getting killed by that because many people thought the game would sell better than it did if it hadn't have released in the same month as red dead.

The sales and quality expectations for that game were through the roof because it took 5 years to develop.  I personally like it and think it's one of the top 5 games on the system but gamers vote with their wallets and they chose red dead by a wide margin.
