Humans are competitive by nature(some are not), especially the younger crowd, they prefer to test out their skills against human opponents rather than against the AI. In my opinion, the AI in shooters are a lot more predictable than human opponents. Myself, I don't play miltitary shooters, be it 3rd or 1st person, because I just can't get into the story, my kind of games are more along the lines of Hitman, Metal Gear, XII.
