I went to Canton to watch the Bengals and ended up having more fun with the Kinect. The Bengals lost....
I got to try out Kinect Adventures and Dance Central at the Canton event. The lines were fairly long and a lot of people were talking to each other while waiting. Seemed like the line was very diverse and had a majority of casual gamers in it. Most of us were Bengal fans as well so it was a pretty fun experience just waiting in line. I had a very expensive Bengals Jersey (9 Carson Palmer) on and I must have gotten about 1000 comments on how nice it was. (My cousin bought it for my birthday last year). Even though he hates the Bengals.
Now to the games! I really loved Dance Central, the chick that was our Booth Babe was super hot and she was just as annoying as she was hot. But I did enjoy watching her shake her thang a little. She was always telling us what to do and yadda yaadda but even with all of this going on I managed to enjoy myself. The game has a lot of good songs, the moves were really responsive and super easy to pick up. I had the most fun with Dance Central and I think it will be the best selling game for the Kinect, unless they bundle Kinect Adventures which they will probably do.
Kinect Adventures, I normally would hate these types of games. They look so silly and stupid that it would be a put off to a lot of people. But I will be honest they were fun to play. River Rush was my favorite of the Kinect Adventure games. There was a very small amount of "lag" but it was no where near as bad as a lot of people want you to believe. And when you are playing the game you really don't notice it that much. Its more of an afterthought.
Rally Ball or whatever its called the one that you swat balls and they go down a hall and hit targets. Was a lot more fun than it looks on tv. I am certain I looked like a big bafoon but it was pretty fun swinging my arms and feet around. Overall I enjoyed the entire thing and left with a smile on my face, like nearly everyone else I saw there.
As for the fact that people will get tired of playing Kinect games because they are so physical. I don't agree with it, when I was a child I went outside as soon as I finished homework after school and played till dark. So if anything this may get people up off of the couch and to do a little exercise without even knowing it. Which is a really good thing, esp... for the younger generation who seem to never go outside and do anything. God only knows what would happen if they didn't get their air conditioning, lol.
