all the things you listed can be done via psp. The usb would be cut off for non ps3 related items

Yeah it would, the odd thing is certain games can't be backed up...I lost all my KZ2 data when I upgraded to the new ps3.

copyrights maybe? I wasn't putting it on my psp though, i used a flash drive..that may have been why but who knows. I hope they fix this without going this route, i like the fact that my ps3 can connect to anything.

from what i understand (unless things have changed or been fixed) you can only trasnfer locked files when you do a full backup of your system. But you can only transfer the locked files if you're upgrading the HDD for the very same ps3. Locked files are locked to the specific console so buying a new ps3 means saying bye bye to those precious locked games. If I'm not mistaken.
