  • PS3 having similar sale at higher price point is not something that should bother a company..having profit is and right now MS is having comprable profit per unit at lower price point (if not "higher profit").
  • bluray argument is going to end soon...when you see players for under 100$ there's no reason to buy a PS3 if you like movies...and BTW you can still buy a x360 arcade and a BR player for the same price
  • 3D is not a factor at all...Blu ray is gaining some momentum this year (in its 4th year) and 3d is a new techonology in its 1st year. I don't expect to become a popular feature in less than 4 year from now (actually i still doubt it will become a popular feature at all but that's another story).
  • there's no thing like "ps3 is 3d capable and x360 is not"..they're both 3d capable.
  • there's no reason for 3rd party developer to quit 42M and counting userbase (multiplat is the direction that game developers took in case you lived on Mars in the last 12 months)...this unless on the market there's a platform that is capable of things that the other platform can only dream of (and that's not the case of ps3 vs x360)
  • MS is going to launch kinect this fall...what's the point of launching a feature when you're going to quit the system in let's say 1 or 2 years?
  • Ms has just redesigned the console..again what's the point of doing so if it's true that by fall 2011 MS will quit the x360?

  • You didnt get my point, if they are having similar sales at higher price point this gives them more room to entice new consumers in the future. The blu ray argument will always makes sense, since your getting also a game console. When blu ray play will be 99$ PS3 will probably be 199$. Theres consumers that will surely want to get both. Its impossible 3D isnt a factor at all, you could say not a big factor tough. All your other point arent related to what I was saying at all... never said MS was going to stop supporting 360 anytime soon.

And between, my argument about first party is that Sony is able to support their console with games by themselves not that third party arent important. Do you live on mars?

    1. Entry level BR players cost 99$ right now (see samsung bdp1580)...you don't have to wait that PS3 slashes its price to 199$ (price point that will be reached at least 1 year from now, more likely 2 years). BTW when ps3 will be 199$ there will be Br players for 50$.
    2. a company thinks the other way round: if i get the same sales at higher price point i don't see the reason to cut my profits. Also PS3 became profitable recently: i don't think you can go to the share holeder meeting and in the wake of crysis say "let's cut our profits!". So you can cut profits but you should be forced to do so: you don't cut your profits just to recover a gap becaouse you like to see VGChartz home page with the red bar at the same height of the green one.
    3. i said that 3D is not a factor...but i also added that in case it became important in the near future there's no thing like "ps3 is 3d ready and x360 is not": they're both capable. it's not a selling point that ps3 can play against x360.

to me MS will support x360 as long as Sony will support PS3.
