How is this thread not locked? Its such crap.
Going by shipped numbers a lone is ridiculous. I mean the title implies we're talking install base. Yet it shows shipped numbers?
yeah it shows the only accurate sales numbers in existence why on earth would someone use that?
Right, consoles sitting in shops counts as install base? Its just stupid.
no it doesn't, the difference between shipped reflects the most accurately the difference between sold, try to keep up theres a reason we keep using the words roughly and about
If that were the case wouldn't it mean that the 360 has the higher install base since it seems like more people are buying 360s vs the PS3 with more on shelves?
Not if their only buying it since their last one broke failed system aren't part of the install base but their impossible to track
Technically you could say the same with the PS3. Not like those fail rarely or something. But as you said, it's impossible to track...
I did say the same about the ps3, I checked the failrate in the most recent study which is fairly accurate (500,000 participants everyone can only fill it out once) ps3s is around 8 360s is over 40, ps3 has about 3 million failed where 360 has about 17 million (not factoring in multiple failures for the same person because of all the variables) the numbers aren't perfectly accurate and it's impossible to tell how many have been repaired and resold as used or returned to owner (for both ps3 and 360) but it's fairly obvious that their is a significant possibility that ps3 has more working consoles in households
