"I mean yes that's why FFIX is so unique and good, but you can take yourself not seriously and still have a good story, and it didn't have a good story. But Deus Ex is a Masterpiece. And it doesn't really have a great plot and it takes itself very seriously. So you like only not serious games? :P"
Where did you get such a silly idea? There are plenty of great serious games, including a few in the Final Fantasy series itself (XII, for example). But far too many Final Fantasies, and JRPGs in general, try to take themselves seriously and fail miserably.
