Are you trying to get a job?  Why are you getting random people to recommend you?

For what you say, I am under the impression that in english you use "recommend" only work related. I'll look it up. In spanish it just means you are asking for advice, for a word of wisdom.
Fortunately, people got it right.

recommend me  is asking for someone to recommend you for something or to someone.  If you want someone to recommend something then you need to say recommend XXX to me.  it is simple grammar.

People didn't get it right.  They actually got it all wrong.  Everyone posts this recommend me crap, and it is annoying.

*sighs* Grammar nazi here. If you're going to be technical, be sure to get it right. Adding the word 'to' in there is more grammatically correct, however, you do not need the XXX part; the phrase 'recommend to me' would be a command to see what you think the commander would like. But, the real kicker, for why I bring this up: 'recommend me' by itself has a casual English acceptance of being a substitute for either 'recommend to me' or recommend me for'; the latter being what you were interpretting it as. While not correct in a formal setting, it is acceptable for a setting as this. (And truth be told, if this annoys you, the internet must be a very stressful place for you.)

As for the topic itself, unfortunately, I'm not a huge PC gamer these days. However, there are 2 series that I keep going back to- Diablo and Civilization. So I guess those are the ones I'd recommend?

You sir, are not remotely correct regarding the casual usage.  At no time has it been acceptable.
