If you have any questions about the games I'm suggesting please feel free to ask.
Jade Empire
RPG made by BioWare, I consider it not as good as other BioWare games, but it's still fun. The world is based on Chinese mythology. You can learn different fighting styles, varying from martial arts, weapons and transformations. The story is very good. The downside is that you can only have one follower at a time with you and they are fairly useless, they either attack your enemies, they mostly work as distraction, or have them on support which varies from character to character.
Steam has it.
Overlord series
It is similar to Pikmin, you are an Overlord and control an army of minions. You improve health, mana, spells by finding relics and bringing them to your base. You're character can also participate in the fights.

King's Bounty
Mix of RPG and TBS. You can move around the world in world in real-time, while the battles are turn-based. You can have a maximum of 5 units, and 2 reserves(they don't participate in the battles). You gain skills by spending runes.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
It's an action-adventure with RPG elements. You play as a newly created vampire, and watch as your sire is killed and then you become the lackey of the ruling vampire of Los Angeles, or so he'd like to think. The world is made up of hubs, most tasks can be accomplished in several ways. There are two things to take into account the Masquerade and Humanity meter, if people see you feeding or your powers you lose a Masquerade point, this means that vampire hunters are likely to appear in the overworld, loose too many and it's instant game over. You lose humanity when you kill innocents, I use the word loosely. With a low humanity score the chances that you succumb to the beast when at low blood levels are high.
You can choose to be vampire from 7 clans, Brujah is a very good choice for a beginner, very good at melee fighting; Ventrue, manipulators; Toreador, also good for beginners; Tremere are blood mages; Gangrel, wolf-men, sort off, would not recommend for first playthrough; Nosferatu, calling them ugly is an understatement, not for first playthorugh as you mostly have to use the sewers; Malkavian, they are insane but have insight, and will spoil some things.
Finally if you get it I recommend getting one of the fan made patches, the game has a lot of bugs.

Ghost Master
In this game you play as a ghost master, you place ghosts in the level world and can assign what powers they can use, you do not directly control them. After finishing a level you get gold plasm, the amount depends on several factors, which you can use to buy new powers for your ghosts. The objective is usually to scare all the mortals away. And in a level you may find ghosts which you can recruit if certain conditions are met.
Steam has it.
The Longest Journey series
Point and click adventure games, the story was very good in my opinion.
Syberia series
Also point and click adventure games. The world is rather steam-punk and the story was nice.
Broken Sword series
Point and click adventure games.
Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising
A mix of shooter and strategy. You are the captain of a ship that can build vehicles from scrap, you're crew is not alive but rather their memories and minds have been placed on chips. The objective is usually to kill the hostiles on an island than move to the next one. There are several vehicles you can make and can choose what weapons and upgrades they have.
