I gave up on him a long time ago after watching Signs. Aliens invade our water planet but water hurts them. Couldn't they see all the water from space? And the big "twist" of the movie was "SWING AWAY MERRIL!!" Oh geez!!
In his defence though, he is not a bad director, although he tends to mimic his ido Alfred Hitchcock a bit too much. If he would just drop the ego and hand off the writing to someone who knows how to write a good story his movies would probably be much better.
