Now pretend you're a publisher with a game that you've made for the PSPhone. Your game is perfectly capable of running on many other Android devices, so why restrict yourself to the revenues from the PSPhone only? You could be selling to an install base that is much, much larger. And if publishers really can persuade the whole Android Market to go for their games, you can bet that HTC, Samsung, and/or Motorola is going to build some competing game-centric hardware. The console business model relies heavily on exclusivity. Android is about as far from exclusive as you can get. |
Not So fast..for one if anything the Phone will Have access to PSN which mean's PSP mini's will run just fine on the phone like they already do on the PSP. By adding Android Android app's will still run like the do on Android Phone's. So why worry about making Hardware to try to compete on the Android front and just single out Sony?
this is just like any other Smart Phone, each smart phone manuf. has App's specific to their Smartphone.
Sony's PSPphone would be the Same. they can still sell their App on the Android Market So I see no reason FOR THESE OTHER COMPANIES to think they would need to make a gaming specific smart phone's why would they? there's already Android Games being made for their Phone already.
these 3RD party publisher's can still make an android APP that's a game..but that Android App is not sold on the PSN unless Sony is going to allow that in which case Android will be getting a very large boost in Game's being made for the platform. but i very much doubt it. I think the PSN will just be for PSP's to access PSP specific game's App's. But now PSP user's also will have access to Android APP'S too boot, and Hell even Sony may produce Android App's along with Google producing PSP app's.
that's a Win..Win
