The problem with these characters is that they very negative characteristics which doesn't put them in a good light: House is nihilistic, alchoholic, amoral and a jerk, Bones has Asperger's Syndrome (or something like it), and if you've ever seen The Big Bang Theory you'll know that Shelldon most likely has Asperger's Syndrome and is a major a-hole most of the time (even his friends don't even like him that much).

Maybe there should be a topic on portrayal of Asperger's Syndrome.

I'm diagnosed with it by the way. I've yet to see a 'normal' portrayal, only exaggerated ones. Makes good TV, but hardly helps awareness.

I know. Take Grey's Anatomy for exampole. They had a character with Asperger's but it seemed like the writers just googled "Asperger's Syndrome" saw the symptoms and made a character having all of them. They never seem to make such charatcers be liek real people. This is what bugs me about american TV shows. A lot of characters whose entire personality revolves around their sexual orientation/religious beliefs/mental disorders.
