I had a 42" LG (forgot model#) that died on me one year, one month and one day after I bought it. I loved it while it worked, it had an excellent picture. Fortunately, I was suckered into an extended warranty (LG wouldn't touch it) and they replaced it with a similar LG. It was a different line from what I had before and the picture was absolutely horrible, there were dark vertical streaks that really showed up while panning. There was no way I was going to live with that! After a little arm twisting (and a convincing demonstration of the problem) I was able to trade it for a 40" Samsung (LN40B550). I'm about nine months into this one, aside from the slightly smaller screen, I have no complaints. So far, so good.
