I don't believe that Microsoft is ever going to drop out of the videogame business now that they have established their brand and have experienced a lot of success. Before the xbox 360 launched in 2005 who could have predicted that 5 years later they would still be ahead of Sony's Playstation 3.
The Xbox 360 is my favorite console this generation so I hope that the Xbox will continue to be around in future generations because competition is good for everyone involved.
Competition has helped Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo be at their absolute best this gen. I say the more competition the better I wouldn't mind if sega entered back in to the hardware business next gen the dreamcast was amazing and it was one of the best consoles ever created in my opinion.
