Most of my friends that heard about versusxiii think that the game is a spin-off. Even if SE markets very well, there will be people thinking the same. This game must be a commercial succes. I want it to be. And with this name, I think it's impossible.

its doubtful how successful FF15 will be after FF13s reputation. and SE need to repair a lot of damage done to the series before we can think about FF15 imo.

did FF12's "bad" reputation harm ff13 sales? luking at user reviews accross lots ov site on th internet including this one FF12 was received worse thn FF13 among th ff users. And before it FFX-2 ws received evn worse. wth critics I know its opposite, but with ppl buying th game FF13 was received bettr thn FF12.
luk at ff14 pre-orders rite now, they r doing bettr thn ff13 pre-orders wer doing at th same time, wht does this show us? it definetely dusnt show th franchise is weaker, it actully shows th frnchise has become strongr.

yeah you do have a point! FF14 seems to be popular at the moment. by no means am i saying FF13 is a bad game, its just a bit dissappointing imo. but honestly though, FF13 might have done well in sales, but how many people do you know finished it. i have 3 friends who are longtime fans of the series and none of them got even half way. now, i think the problem is whether those longtime fans will come back for FF15 etc.

I think you are missing the point.
With XIII Versus, it's like saying that the game will be in the same way as FFXIII or even worse: a spin-off.
Renaming to FFXV the game will not be very hurt by the reputation of FFXIII.
I hope that Versus is just a codename, but unfortunately it seems not.
