I am in the boat that thinks the ultimate success or failure depends largely on the world economy.
If the economy continues at the current pace where jobs are lost, while corporate profits rise due to restructuring, then the individual consumer will not have the disposable income to sustain the 3D industry as a whole. Individually, there will always be a market for iMax 3D movies at the middle and upper income ends, but the 3D televisions Sony and others are hocking will fail entirely and spectacularly because unemployment benefits will not cover the costs for a $3000 3D Sony television after you factor in food, housing, transportation and whatever the latest gadgets the kids want.
