I think with the Gulf Oil spill disappearing into history, and if the Iraq pull out works for them next year things will go up for him. Afghanistan is still a millstone around his neck and that needs to be gone by the time campaigning starts in 2012.

Domesitcally, if the ecomony can be on an upswing, and unemployment tracking downwards if people are starting to feel good about life then Obama and the Democrats (if they hold on to the House ans sentate this year) will have what should be an ideal domestic agenda campaigning platform: We inherited a disaster from the incompetent Republicans and turned it around". But because there's more than just America suffering under the ongoing economic doldrums it's by no means certain that the American economy will be doing well enough for it to be working in the Democrat's favour.

Like Bill Clinton said: it's the economy stupid.

Nothing is turned around in fact President Obamas stimulis is pushing the country further into debt and dispair. The Govt can not rescue the country the american people can. But the gov't imposes taxes and industry standards the will hinder growth.  No if this goes on like the this the gov't will be our nanny and have total control of our lives.  Dems and repubs ugh we need more independant people to run

You say that but most economists agree that the stimulus was good for the economy and that it needed to be bigger.  Since they dedicate their whole lives to understanding the economy I have an inclination to trust them, that and we had half a year of growth and recovery.  And a nanny state? There's a difference between a safety net and coddeling, our entire recession was the result of deregulation and reckless spending, we need more control and moderation rather than less of it.  I agree though we do need more independent thinkers running to see real change.
