I could be wrong, but I believe anyone can play the single player as a guest, with out the internet on. But for any multiplayer you must have a bnet account, and that account has to have starcraft 2 bought on it. I could be wrong, it is still hard finding reliable info out there. I don't really see the problem if that is the case. If you want to play online you should have to buy the game, If you just want single player, you can play single player offline.
