| Rpruett said: Culture is different in America. By and large Americans have less free time than most other developed countries in the world. Recent studies and comparisons have shown that Americans spend far more time in the workplace than other developed nations. The average American spent 1,804 hours at work – be it an office, shop or farm. This breaks down to about 35 hours a week, assuming no holidays or time off, which we know is not the case. By comparison, Norwegians worked 1,401 hours and the French worked 1,564. I would also point out that Americans purchase the most games and is the largest gaming market in the world. This doesn't necessarily mean that a higher percentage of people play Video games here though. I believe that Americans own more games on average than other places in the world. So while an average guy from Poland might own 4 games for his Xbox 360. The average American most likely owns 8. This difference cannot go under-stated.
I've always felt that I have a natural knack to being atleast top 10%-25% of my team very shortly after picking up a game. But many games (Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc) I just never put in a TON of time into their multi-players. So if I were to jump into those games today, I would get face rolled. I've played literally 15 other games since Uncharted 2. I don't feel like the rest of the world is the same as that as a whole. I feel like that guy from Poland might play the living hell out of Uncharted 2 because quite frankly it's the best option he has. |
Average work week of 35 hours? Where do I sign up? In Canada it's 40 hour work weeks.
Also, according to Wikipedia (I know not the most reliable source) the Irish are the highest "Per Capita" purchasers of video games.
Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos
