But because Sony sold the PS3 hardware at a huge loss, they knew that they had to make the money back on games and accessories, so they scrapped the design. Gamers having to buy new controllers was better for their bottom line and therefore it makes perfect sense that they made Demons Souls the way it is.

But it would come back, hit people in the head, and cause too many lawsuits leading to a controller strap.
