I think anyone who buys Kinect for Dance Central will be very satisfied unless they have unreasonable expectations.
But the distinction between 1:1 tracking and 1:1 motion control should probably be clarified. The feedback system for Dance Central informs the player of their performance by displaying visual effects cues.
"If you perform a move correctly, the character's body lights up and your surroundings change. If you perform a move incorrectly, the character will turn red."
What you are not doing here is controlling your on screen character like a puppet (true 1:1 control), but mirroring the actions of your on screen character. In effect, the player is the puppet. It's not a freestyle dance session that will have your character repeating any of your personal, non-scripted/animated moves.
Of course, this is how rhythm games work. Memorize the routine and repeat it as closely as possible, which happens to work quite well for dance games, and even more so for a game that recognizes body poses and movements rather than button presses (mat buttons or other) or motion gestures.
