Ok back on topic here... Good thread. Im personally of the wait and see mindset on Kinect, both for myself and in terms of thinking about sales.

lol, me too, as far as its success goes. However, I think that the things I've mentioned about how the device works are kind of like game reviews. Casuals don't care about them. If they think it's fun, they'll buy it, and it is aimed directly at them. That said, again, I have to wait and see if it's a success. Since the device is not meant for me, I have no investment in its success or failure, and I won't be buying it, however I think it will outperform the move if casual gamers are at all a deciding factor.

I think its got enough good looking software and good enough gimmicks to at least gain the attention of a wide population of people. $299 is good enough value for the new adopters as from my perspective most people aren't so stupid as people here imagine and they do factor in the cost of controllers, memory cards or whatever when they purchase consoles especially as the price is high enough for people to at least take care when making the purchase. The main issue for me is the $149 price tag may be too high for core adopters who will see less value, although theres always the possibility there will be a price cut within the next 6 months to solve it.
