I think so after all the Wii fit with a Balance board proved very successful and it did not come cheap. Your missus may be over the moon with her $30 version but she would be even more impressed with the Kinect version, your call ;)

The Balance board and motion controls  has already been done. Exercising with a camera has already be done as well.

 Most in my family knows Blu-ray is an improvement over DVD yet they continue to rent DVD from Red Box. So far they  seems to be as interested in Kinect as Blu-ray movies. Blu-ray is better yet DVD is good enough.
