One of the reasons may be that people are not willing to blindly believe in what they are told anymore.
Everyone now has the ability and the courage to ask questions and demand to see evidence before they decide what to believe.
I personally totally support this, we must be more willing to question the status quo, to seek evidence before setting our belief in something, and being flexible enough to change our opinions when new evidence comes to light.
There really isn't anything wrong in changing your mind once the picture becomes clearer.
