Having to shake your arm to get the thing to respond sounds very similar to the Eyetoy and that didn't sell that great.. I think word of mouth is going to be detrimental to Kinect if these issues persist, nobody is going to recommend it to friends when it's not functioning as advertised.
It'll probably sell 2 - 4 million units these holidays but I doubt it's going to have great sales thereafter..
