An example: When I upgraded from Vista ( which was shit), I had no problems whatsoever with the process. It found all the drivers and everything worked like a charm. On the other hand when I tried upgrading a couple of computers at work to Ubuntu 10.4 I had more problems than it was worth. Finding drivers was an event in its own. And for a lot of computers you either have to make your own drivers or have someone do it for you. Good luck with that.
While Eventually Linux may be better than Windows at some time in the distant future, it is no where near as good right now. Compatability issues, driver issues and install issues alone should prove to most that 10.4 still has a ways to go. And until the majority of people use Linux, there will always be issues with compatability. |
Compatability isn't an issue on Linux , because its a freeware OS , and that you can always download wine for example it works with Steam games, i have Windows 7 on my work PC, a lot of times it crashes with the simplest stuff (a lot less times than Vista but ALOT compared to Ubuntu) , also its pretty slow and "Heavy" compared,
while the Pros of Win7 is that the a lot of programs feels "Officially" supported when using it, while on ubuntu it thinks that you are using Windows but they both work the same most of the time, also another Con for Windows is the fact that its the only OS with viruses, even though to be honest i've never had a virus all my time using Windows 94 - win7 and in between,i only had was spyware which is another issue as well.
so you saying its the best OS ever is kinda ... you know wrong?
