Either that is some clever satire, or a very depressing statement on your values ... I’m a Canadian and I fully support a fairly open immigration policy, but I don’t see why illegal immigration should be tolerated; and I have yet to hear a reasonable argument why illegal immigration should be ignored. Between sex-trafficking and the drug trade criminal organizations are getting amazingly wealthy and powerful and creating a tsunami of destruction with their wake. An illegal labour market increases unemployment, holds down wages, and contributes nothing towards taxation; while the increase in population strains infrastructure and services paid for though taxes compounding the problem. |
I agree, too many people forget the huge difference between legal and illegal immigration, and BTW the illegal immigrants damage also the legal ones, not only the countries that welcome them.
For example, in Italy it's quite difficult that South Americans enter illegally, given the huge distance, and thanks also to this, despite some problems with baby gangs, their overall reputation is enormously better than that of North Africans, amongst which the illegal immigration rate and the problems related to it are a lot higher.
