This is Sony's mentality - and its completely wrong. What they need is more THIRD-PARTY games. Its the gap in the release schedule that is killing them.

They might have 5 or 6 "killer-apps" a year. Each one will (hopefully) have a great launch - a solid week or two, then maybe some legs. But that still accounts for maybe 10 weeks out of 52 - what about all the other weeks?

The loss in momentum from the gaps is killing them - its exactly what happened to the GC with Nintendo. 1st-party titles were great, had great sales, boosted hardware - but it couldn't compete week in, week out.

...

Its also no accident that of the BIG selling PS3 titles this year - its the well known brands that are doing great guns (CoD, Guitar Hero - and Assassins to some extent).

Make no mistake - '08 (in many ways) is the make or break year for the PS3. Although I still think they can lag the 360 (by a little), and still have a great '09.
(much depends on whether Sony is happy if the PS3 has a PSP type performance...)
