I've been looking at these since I was a kid. I prefer parallel to cross eyed, though, instead of looking between the monitor and your eyes, you look way past/behind the monitor. The difference is when you cross eye, the middle 3d image becomes smaller, and looks closer, but with parallel it looks farther away and bigger. Parallel is harder to do though, especially if the two images are large. The 2 images must be swapped also, Parallel used on a cross eyed pair will inverse the distance of the objects in the picture, close objects will appear far away, and visa versa.
