Well, you're right about typing. For serious typing, you need to either use an external keyboard or, yeah, get a laptop. The iPad does a pretty good job for unserious typing, once you get used to it.

I'm quite impressed, I didn't think it could handle that. The KORG drum machine app looks like fun, but how much does it cost?

The KORG app is $10, StudioTrack is $40, and iSequence is $15.
There's a ton of other music creation apps, though KORG is certainly the most popular. Average price seems to be about $10. They make me wish that I was more musical (and that I had an iPad).
