Really? The only good thing happening in the American anime industry I can think of is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Kekkaishi getting strong ratings on Adult Swim. And even then, that doesn't compare to how well animated sitcoms have been doing on there. Perhaps there is something I'm missing but a huge chuck of the anime fanbase including me are teens who can't afford to buy much anime DVDs or manga.
