Can I Platinum Demon's Souls without the Online component?

Atlus confirmed that they 'extended' their Online Support for the NA Version to at least March 2011.

but still what happens after March 2011? if i had the NA version id be pissed that one of my favrite games that i paid  full price for was about to lose most of its features.
