I'll be honest- it doesn't bother me one bit. I've no problem with people who want to go through the legal avenue of becoming a citizen; welcome to the US! But too many of them come into this country, have a kid, and then leech off the system. There will be some shrinking pains, but for safety and unity, I think this is a good thing. And related, someone mentioned how speaking English was a requirement for citizenship. That's also good; it means that in a time of crisis, a message can be said once, and be understood by everyone. I'm even willing to cut people slack who are trying to learn the language. But if you've been here for, say, 4 years, and all the English you know is "No speak English" (and more often than not, it's Spanish they speak), then I've got another one for you: "Si usted no habla ingles, la salida esta detras de ti." Or, in more crude terms, "Get the fuck out!" The key thing to remember, is that this only applies to those who DON'T know English. If you know more languages, good for you.
But then again, I've always been a fan of kicking out people who don't belong here, who almost insist that those who have been here have to bend around to accomodate them. This also includes those who require us to pay for expensive services in other languages. And yes, I also apply these rules to myself- I won't go to Spain unless I feel I can at least try to carry on a conversation in Spanish. If you come here, you better at least try to do one in English. And the problem is that many of the illegal ones don't. What really pisses me off is how some areas (I'm looking at you, southern Florida) pander to those here illegally. But that's drifting toward a different topic...
