Up until BMX XXX, many people thought that if your game was controversial, it would sell regardless of quality. BMX XXX came about because they wanted to make a controversial game that they absolutely knew would sell well. So they made a terrible BMX game, put a very small amount of topless girls in it (that I think was some unlockable and barely there), and the game did terrible. BMX XXX did a great thing for the industry by proving controversy doesn't sell. |
I bought that game, Resident Evil Zero, and Metroid Prime on the same day. I figured that the two good games would help me avoid embarrassment at Gamestop. I was wrong. :(
