If someone is stopped for another offense, the police officer can ask them about their immigration status if there's reasonable suspicion that they're in the country illegally. It's really not a huge departure from current law, and the only reason there's a firestorm around it is because Arizona intends to actually enforce it.


Yeah, I've been kinda wondering... If you have a driver's license (or some other form of federal ID) and spoke in (even broken) English, then wouldn't that kinda rule you out of suspicion? I'm not worrying of course, 'cuz I'm not in Arizona and I'm Caucasian, but I'm just wondering.

Yeah, there's a rather long list of what the authorities will accept as a valid ID.

Specifies a presumption of lawful presence with these IDs: Arizona driver license or ID; tribal enrollment card or ID; valid federal, state or local government issued identification, if the issuing entity requires proof of legal presence before issuance.

Lol, so wait a second, so if you are illegal and doing something already either illegal or potentially endangering (speeding/drunk driving/public intoxication), and the cops pull you over and you have no ID, then they can deport you? LOL, if I did that I'd get put in jail. Why are people flipping out about this again?


If you dont have your papers of ID you get put into a holding cell, someone can bring your ID to show whether youre "legal" or not. 

People are flipping out because of the link i showed. Its expensive to deport people, this doesnt actual help anything logically. Unless you in your heart of hearts believe over 50% of this countries crime comes from people here illegally.

The real reform needs to be getting these people registered quickly and easily so they can start paying taxes. 

This arizona stuff has already gone on in Virginia and it DESTROYED a county, when we are talking about this on a state level its even bigger because youll have boycotts, migration out of the state, displacement, innocent children getting ripped from families.....the reform needs to come from figuring out how to register people not how to deport them.


Idk about 50%, but I do believe some of most societal dangerous crimes are committed by people here illegally. Human and drug trafficking, etc. And I believe that it's pretty bad that if someone is here illegally and they commit a crime, that it's really hard to find them because they're not recorded, their prints aren't recorded; much less their DNA.  Last year I saw a story on a man who was killed buy a drunk driver in my state. the pickup that killed him was allegedly owned by an illegal immigrant, was not registered, and the guy just ran.

Also, illegal immigration allows lots of gang activity in general to increase. MS13 is considered one of the biggest gangs in the world, and it was started by illegal immigrants from El Salvador within the states.

We already DID that about 20 or so years ago, we alllowed amnesty to all illegals within the country htat were here 5 years or more. We can't just keep letting everybody in every 20 years just because they're closer.
