Shame, the government doesn't listen to the vast majority of the citizens. In a recent Yougov poll 67.2% of people in the UK want the Burka banned.

I would argue it that the Burka is "un-British"

I think if the burka got banned I really wouldn't lose sleep over it, in the end this is a secular nation so if it did get banned we should just respect it as that is what the majority of the citizens wants.

 

I do not live there and don't ever want to wear one, it is a secular nation but the people are supposed to have the freedom of speech and religion.  The secular part only comes into play when you are talking about things like schools, not walking down a public street.  You can't force people to be secular in public places and claim you have the freedoms they say they do. This is a culture war, plain and simple.  They don't want the Muslims to leave, they want them to force them to be more like the French while still milking their cheap labor.

You should be aware that, outside burka, you can basically do whatever you want to do as a muslim in France.
French governement is EVEN building mosquee for them with my own money (while it is suppose to be muslim people that build mosquee with their money ...)
Some are even praying in the street that is agaisnt the law
Some can even get "special muslim time" in piscine to allow muslim girl to go to piscine without men inside ...

We are clearly oppressing muslim people ... so true.
