As I said in an earlier post in this thread, I suspect that they do. In fact upon searching further I have found some links that suggest that EMT's in some states are required to assist weather on or off the clock. However, this story was about the state of NY.

EDIT: Look at Arizona's law that lets police ask for ID from anyone they think is an illegal for example. Laws do vary from state to state, and as pointed out by someone else in this thread there should be the same laws that apply over the whole of the USA... I know they do have federal laws, but there is just a lot of stupid stuff that is legal somewhere and illegal somewhere else :P
