I think you don’t understand ...

In the Qur’an and in the Hadiths it is mandated that individuals who follow Islam must dress modestly, and it is (more or less) in reference to individuals not showing off their material wealth. These passages are misinterpreted, misrepresented and abused in order to force women to cover the entirety of their body. The burka is very symbolic in a culture which blames victims of sexual abuse (regardless of age) of being seductresses, and has stoned these women for adultery even if they’re violently raped.

Protecting the burka under religious freedom is only slightly better than protecting a priest’s right to abuse alter-boys under religious freedom.
