The current hatred towards homosexuality seems far more likely to come from the blanket condemnation of sodomy in the Abrahamic religions.

We don't know how prevalent it was. And pedophilia is not the same as homosexuality.

It was extremely prevalent, enough so that it was held as a higher form of relationship than heterosexual relations - pederasty was sort of a rite of passage in Athenian culture.
